Mandatory plastic disclosure takes centre stage in treaty negotiations

Mandatory plastic disclosures for the financial sector could be one step closer as negotiations restarts on a global plastics treaty, but the market has lamented the slow progress.

 

The UN’s Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee on Plastic Pollution (INC-4) meets this week in Ottawa for the fourth round of negotiations on the treaty. The draft text on offer presents two versions of mandatory corporate disclosure, which the CDP has told Environmental Finance are “two strong options”.
