World Urban Forum

Held every two years, the World Urban Forum (WUF) is the premier global conference on urbanization convened by UN-Habitat. In 2022, The Circulate Initiative’s Research Director, Umesh Madhavan, presented as part of a special session on “Urban Data and Circular Economy,” which convened various experts and industry leaders, including representatives from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the Stockholm Environment Institute, and Edge Environment. As part of his presentation, Umesh highlighted the need for investments in sustainable urban development to shift systems to circularity.

The theme of WUF11, “Transforming our Cities for a Better Urban Future,” sought to provide greater insights and clarity on the future of cities based on existing trends, challenges and opportunities, as well as suggesting ways cities can be better prepared to address future pandemics and crisis events.
