Accelerating Investments for Plastics Circularity

Plastic waste is a significant issue in Southeast Asia, with low collection and recycling rates. Government agencies often lack the training and information needed to secure financial resources for circular interventions.

The Asian Development Bank, in collaboration with the Coordinating Body on the Seas of East Asia (COBSEA), hosted a regional capacity-building workshop titled “Accelerating Investments for Plastics Circularity” in June 2024. The Circulate Initiative’s Research Director, Umesh Madhavan, spoke at the event, which aimed to equip government officials from various countries with the knowledge and tools to enhance financing for plastics circularity projects and create conditions that attract private sector investments.
