The ASEAN Conference on Combatting Plastic Pollution 2023

The ASEAN Conference on Combatting Plastic Pollution 2023 addressed one of the most pressing environmental issues in Southeast Asia: plastic pollution. This regional initiative was hosted by ERIA, through its Regional Knowledge Centre for Marine Plastic Debris, Indonesia National Plastic Action Partnership (NPAP), Indonesia’s Coordinating Ministry for Maritime and Investment Affairs, and Indonesia’s Ministry of Environment and Forestry.

The Circulate Initiative’s Research Director, Umesh Madhavan, joined the panel, “Banking on Waste: Unlocking Finance to Address Plastic Pollution,” to discuss the state of investment in emerging economies, the readiness of viable solutions for investment, and how policy can de-risk and incentivize capital flow to circular solutions.
