Towards an International Treaty on Plastics Pollution: Reflections on Selected Issues

In the lead-up to the second session of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC-2) to develop an international legally binding instrument on plastic pollution, including in the marine environment (ILBI), this event, hosted by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), contributed to the discussions on the means of implementation, financing, and trade.

 

The Circulate Initiative’s Research Director, Umesh Madhavan, led the discussion on “Mobilizing Resources to End Plastic Pollution: the Costs and Financing,” taking a deep dive into the current investment landscape in plastics circularity and the need for a conducive policy environment to mobilize more capital.
