Chennai lacks proper infra to dispose of recyclable plastic

A plastic ban is ‘officially’ still in place, but Chennai has no infrastructure to recycle it or dispose it of, finds a study. Infrastructure and regulation of the informal recycling sector can improve collection and segregation, says The Circulate Initiative. The non-profit organization mapped the local plastic recycling supply chains in India, Vietnam, Thailand, and Indonesia. In India, it studied collection, management and disposal of recyclable plastics in New Delhi, Chennai, and Mumbai.
